Shipping Information

FLAT RATE SHIPPING - Kalona Historical Village Gift Shop offers flat rate shipping at the rate of $9.95 per box for most items except baskets and rugs. If an item does not qualify for the flat rate, because it is oversized, extremely fragile or for some other reason, the flat rate option will not show up on the checkout page.

FLAT RATE LIMITATIONS - We reserve the right to limit the number of items per box in some instances to reduce the risk of damage during shipment. If we need to ship your order in more than one box, we will contact you first by phone, and then by email to resolve the difference in cost. The average limit per box is 5 items.

USPS FLAT RATE WORKAROUNDS - We have created work arounds to include USPS flat or regional rate boxes, not available through the normal USPS shipping module. Please ensure that if you select a USPS flat rate or regional rate box through USPS that your item specifically says it will fit in that size container. Likewise if you select two or more items, even if they each say they will fit in a certain box, together they may need to be packed in a larger box. Please note dimensions and select wisely or call us to be certain you are selecting the correct option. Selecting a box that is too small for your item/s will require us to contact you and collect more shipping fees and will result in your shipment being delayed or possibly cancelled.

SHIPPING PROVIDERS - We recommend shipping by United Parcel Service (UPS).  We can also ship your purchases through the United States Postal Service (post office).  We no longer ship via Fedex even though we still have drop off service through our print shop.

SHIPMENTS TO CANADA - We will ship orders to Canada via your choice of USPS or UPS. The default UPS option is Canada Standard. We have negotiated for flat rate duty fees. Contact your UPS regional office to learn what your duty fees are, so there are no surprises there. You may also select USPS shipping, but we insist on insuring the package for the dollar amount of the merchandise.  If you select US Postal Service, we will need to collect the actual amount that it costs us to ship your package with customs fees and the appropriate dollar amount of insurance. We have found the shipping module does not always accurately estimate canadian shipments, and for this we are very sorry, but we are limited by the software the USPS will provide. To best expedite your order, it is always quickest to contact us while your items are still in your cart, so we can package, and get accurate rates for shipping before processing your payment. we will ask you to remit the difference before we ship your package.

DAMAGE IN TRANSIT - We do our best to package items for the safest shipment, but accidents do happen and are beyond our control once the package has been transferred to the shipper.  Every order we ship is guaranteed, so if it does arrive damaged due to shipping we will replace it or refund the purchase price if the item is no longer available. We will not ship anything without insuring its safe arrival to cut costs. We must receive a notice from you about damage within 10 days of receipt of order.
